Doing your job won’t get you a promotion

Doing your job won’t get you a promotion– if I don’t think you can do it, I won’t hire you. Showing up is just the cost of entry.

You want more responsibility, recognition, and rewards? You want respect? Earn it. Do something worth noticing. Take smart risks. Think long-term. Challenge the leadership and offer up a better way. Do what’s good for the organization, not just what’s best for you– it’ll serve you better in the long run anyway.

You have talent. But that’s not greatness. Consistently summoning that talent at will and applying it, though? That can lead to greatness. And promotions.
